New York City / Traveling

Photo diary Day No. 1

So this is it: New York City. And we got the experience right away: In the apartment for 5 minutes and we decided to go and see the city by night. Times Square welcomed us, we had burgers and greek salad in a typical little restaurant on the Upper West Side and we got the grand tour on hotel lobbies with amazing views. All in all the perfect first night, in the city that never sleeps.

favorite place so far: Columbus Circle and the Mall

Bikes, something that I'm not used to anymore. But New Yorkers trust in their bikes. We saw 3 already last night (yes, 30 degrees. They apparently don't care about being cold!

*Bridge and tunnel girls. First that we learned, and I’m not gonna lie we were shocked: girls, mostly 15/16 year old in mini dresses wearing  at least 4-5 inch heels. A phenomenon on the weekends. They’re girls from the area like New Jersey, coming to Manhattan. The story behind their name is the journey they have to take: They have have to cross the Hudson River so they have to drive over the bridge and through a tunnel. I didn’t get why they have to walk around in heels that seem to be as tall as the buildings around them (no, I wouldn’t call it walking either it’s more of a shuffling along with a few stumbles here and there..) or mini dresses when it’s 30 degrees outside. But well, it’s New York City ay?

We’re so lucky to have Karen with us. Being an almost-New Yorker, she showed us all these amazing places that we never would have found. Merci, Danke and thanks at this point. We’re excited to spend time in the city, it just started.

Love always, x

  1. Hope you have a great time in the city, and great photos. And yes, typical city life is seeing little girls dressing like grownups. I always think, where are your parents?! lol I never get used to it, and I’ve lived here my whole life! 🙂
