Beloved Coffee

“I’d rather take coffee than compliments just now.” – Louisa May Alcott

Everyone should know about my love for coffee by now (alright, you may call it obsession too), but I’m still convinced that coffee can make my day brighter and it doesn’t matter if it’s on a beautiful Sunday morning, after a sleepless night or simply after school or work. The only thing questionable is do I really want to spent about $5 for every cup of the delightful, hot beverage? I’m starting to doubt Starbucks more and more, every single time I set a foot in one of their million stores and see their new “triple mocca cookie cinnamon chocolate frappucchino” special. WHAT?! What happened to a simple cup of coffee? I knew that if I wanted to change my opinion there’d be no better chance than to find the perfect coffee shop in San Francisco. And I did Ritual Coffee Roasters is a place for coffee lovers, writers, friends to meet friends, people to meet strangers, people that appreciate the simplicity but yet complexity of a cup of coffee. I spotted it more by accident while I was busy browsing through little independent boutiques on Valencia Street.
I knew I was in the right place as soon as I saw one of the workers brew the coffee. He spend so much time, trying to do it perfectly and with a lot of love. The coffee itself is from all over the world (fair traded and organic, just like everything else of course) but it is roasted in the city. Founders of the store make sure to have the best of the best by traveling through Central/South America, even Africa each year to hand pick and try coffee right at its source.  You would think I’d be okay to pay the 5 bugs for something special like that, but you’re about to be surprised because a cup of Latte Macchiato is only about $2.50 there. “They don’t want to make coffee more complicated”. Very refreshing and different. You can enjoy good coffee even at home, all you have to do is grab one of the (do I even have to add: free) detailed instruction cards with the cute illustration on it’s front. You can check them out on their website too! All in all I had a great day in Mission, I have a lot more stores from there that I have to tell you about. That wasn’t all of it yet, promise. IMG_2926

    • I’m so sorry, I just saw your comment right now. I seriously don’t know why. Thank you so much for your encouraging words, it really means a lot. I miss America a lot too…
